Diabetic Lancets: Technique for finger stick blood sugar testing ... Optical glucose meter

Most diabetics are familiar with the technique for finger stick Diabetic Lancets.  Using a glucometer like millions of diabetics do everyday and sometimes often times throughout the day, has literally been a life saver.

It requires you prick your finger to get a small blood sample to let you know your Diabetic Lancets immediately.  They can be done after each meal to monitor the effects that certain types of food have on your blood sugar levels.

Scientists are currently workingo on a fiber optical glucose meter than can be implanted in the skin to give a immediate readings to let you know of rises or falls in your blood sugar levels.  They are developing it in a way that will not be evasive.

Just like taking medication, people often forget with the busy lives to measure their Diabetic Lancets, or if you go away and forget your glucometer, yuor not going to know if you are at a healthy state or not.

Since diabetes has no known cure for it, this is something that any diabetic is going to have to likely live with for the rest of their lives, so if an optical glucose meter can be implanted in the skin, this could be a huge breakthrough in the monitoring of diabetics.

Currently there are implants that can be put in your body to monitor your Diabetic Lancets, but there are some drawbacks.  They have been known to cause infections after only a couple days after being implanted in the skin.  They are also quite bulky and can be very expensive.  So because of these draw backs, most people go to the option of using a glucometer with the technique for finger stick blood sugar testing.

If these fiber optical glucose meter are able to be installed without infections, are affordable and not invasive, barely even noticeable then the glucometer will be a relegated to a backup option.

A lot of people understandably do not enjoy pricking themselves for blood samples daily, and over time the tip may become calloused making it more difficult to get a reading.
